About Nuune

Nuune is an AI mediator for couples. It joins the chat between you and your partner, helps each of you be heard, and suggests ways to say things, exercises and deals. It is there at any hour, including in the middle of an argument.

You and your partner each use the app on your own phone. In a shared chat, Nuune reads what you both write and replies to both of you: it slows things down, asks what each of you needs, and suggests words to try. You can also talk to it on your own first, and keep a private journal. Nuune is an AI, not a person or a therapist.

No. Nuune is an AI, not a person or a therapist. It helps two people talk through everyday disagreements. The app says so before you start, keeps a reminder on the chat screen, and Nuune will tell you the same if you ask it. The full wording is in our Terms, section 2.2.

Not yet. Nuune is not available in Illinois, Maine, Nevada, Rhode Island, Tennessee or Vermont. Laws there restrict AI apps that help with relationships and emotions, and until we can offer Nuune in a way that fully follows them, we do not offer it there at all. The app checks where you are when you open it.

When your internet connection shows Illinois, Maine, Nevada, Rhode Island, Tennessee or Vermont, Nuune pauses, because laws there place strict limits on AI apps that help with relationships and emotions. The app tells you this on screen. Nothing is lost: your account, conversations and journal stay exactly as they were, and Nuune works again as soon as you connect from somewhere else. Some mobile networks and VPNs show the wrong location; try Wi-Fi or turn off the VPN, then tap Check again. If it still shows the wrong state, tap Confirm with my location: your phone's position is checked once, and we keep only the resulting state, never the location.

No. Nuune is for everyday disagreements and for practising how to say hard things. If you are dealing with violence, abuse, addiction or thoughts of harming yourself, please reach out to a professional or a help line: findahelpline.com lists free ones for your country.

Couples: two adults in a relationship who want to argue less badly and understand each other better. You can start on your own if your partner is not ready yet.

Plans & Pricing

Both have the same features. Solo ($19.99 a month) is for one person. Couples ($35.99 a month) covers you and your partner: one of you pays, and your partner joins from their own phone.

It costs less than two Solo plans ($35.99 instead of $39.98 a month), and your accounts are linked, so you can have shared chats and make deals together.

Not at the moment. Plans are monthly, and you can cancel at any time.

No. The price and any tax that applies are shown before you pay. There is no setup or cancellation fee.

Yes. The demo on our home page gives you 10 messages with Nuune, and the app gives you your first 10 messages, even before you make an account. There is no free plan after that.

Couples Plan

In the app, open Partner and tap Invite my partner, or share your invite code. Your partner makes their own account on their own phone and accepts, and your accounts are linked.

Yes. Each of you has your own account and your own private space; only what you share, and the chats you have together, are shared.

No. Your journal and your solo chats are private: your partner never sees them. They see only your shared chats and any journal entry you choose to share with them. This is enforced in the database, not only promised in a policy.

Either of you can unlink at any time in the app. Your own chats and journal stay with your own account. When you unlink, Nuune asks whether the journal and diary entries you shared should stay visible to your partner or stop being shared. Chats you had together stay in both accounts.

Features & Usage

Voice is off until you turn it on, and the app asks the first time you tap the microphone. When it is on, your recording is sent to Hume AI, which turns it into text and reads the tone of your voice, for example whether you sound tense or calm. That is emotion recognition, and it only runs on what you choose to record. You can turn it off at any time in Profile, Privacy.

Not on a plan. Use Nuune as much as you need.

Nuune is an iPhone app. Sign in on any iPhone and your conversations and journal are there. The website only has a short demo.

Small agreements you make together, like putting phones away at dinner. One of you proposes, the other accepts, changes or declines. Nuune may suggest one when the same argument keeps coming back. We keep them few on purpose: a relationship isn't a rulebook.

Privacy & Security

Your conversations are encrypted in transit and at rest, and we never train AI models on them. We do not offer end-to-end encryption, and the reason matters: Nuune works by having an AI read what you write. Any service that reads your conversations and still advertises end-to-end encryption is promising something it cannot deliver.

You, and your linked partner in shared chats. Your journal and solo chats stay hidden from your partner. To reply, messages are processed by the AI providers that run Nuune (Anthropic, and Hume AI for voice). Nuune staff do not read your conversations, with three exceptions: you ask us to, for example for support; the law requires it; or our safety check flags that someone may be at risk of harm, in which case authorized staff see the flag and up to the last 200 characters of the message that raised it.

Yes. You can delete conversations, or your whole account and everything in it, in the app under Profile, Privacy. It is deleted from our database straight away; copies in our database provider's backups are overwritten within 30 days.

No, never, and we do not use it for advertising. Your messages are processed by Anthropic, and by Hume AI if you use voice, only to run Nuune. See our Privacy Policy for details.

No. HIPAA applies to healthcare providers and Nuune is not one. For anything medical, please see a doctor.

Billing & Cancellation

Yes, with no fee, where you subscribed. Your plan runs until the end of the month you have paid for.

When you subscribe, then on the same day each month until you cancel.

Nothing. Your account, conversations and journal stay until you delete them. Without a plan, Nuune stops replying, and you can still read, export or delete everything.

In the EU, the EEA and the UK you can withdraw from a new plan within 14 days and get your money back, less the days you used if you started right away. If your plan renewed and you have not used Nuune since (no message, no journal or diary entry), write to us within 7 days of the renewal and we refund that month in full. Otherwise we do not refund part of a month. If Nuune does not work as described, write to support@nuune.app and we will fix it or refund you. Details are in our Terms, section 4.

Getting Started

Download the app when it is out (join the waitlist on our home page and we will tell you the day). Talk to Nuune for your first ten messages, then make an account and that conversation comes with you. A short calibration helps Nuune understand how you handle disagreements.

About two minutes, five questions. A longer questionnaire is there if you want it, and it is optional.

Yes. Nuune is an iPhone app, and your partner uses it on their own phone. It is coming to the App Store soon: join the waitlist on our home page and we will email you the day it is out. The website only has a short demo.
